A machine is a device that does something useful, right? Well, what about if the thing it does is useless?
Well, here is my useless machine
The idea of useless machines isn’t new, but this very neat little one was designed by Martin Raynsford from Nottingham Hackspace. It’s supplied as a kit of laser cut pieces of wood and electrical components that need gluing and soldering together. Here’s a few photos of the finished article, and some mid-way through showing the internals.
Assembly time was about an hour in total, although this was spread over a couple of days as the glue needs to set on some bits before doing others.
Since buying this kit, Martin has improved the design to make it smaller and more efficient, but it still looks pretty good!
